About me

imageI am Frida, born on 17 June 1965 in Berlin, Germany.

In July 2013, after almost 20 years of working, I decided to live some of my old dreams. Therefore, I quit my job, gave up my flat and sold my car and many of my things.

What triggered this extraordinary step, was the following quote from Mark Twain:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Another role model for sure was and is the German journlist Maike Winnemuth and her book about spending one year in 12 different cities.

So off I went, and started my trip on 1 April 2014; Fool’s day seemed an appropriate starting date for such a trip with an open end.

This blog is intended for family and friends. If, however, some other readers find interesting what I write, it would make me very happy.

Most posts will be in English, as my German speaking friends/family speak also English. Some longer stories, however, I will post in German only. Once I am a rich and famous travel writer, I will translate them into English. 😉
